London...

Yaaay!!!!! we're going to London for the night on Thursday - special birthday treat for me...

I'm so excited; we've already booked tickets to see the amazing quilt exhibition at the V&A

we're staying at this cool hotel

& just round the corner is the textile museum with this amazing exhibition, with stuff by my favourite textile designer - Lucienne Day!

I can't wait - and even the waiting is great - spending so much time on the internet finding out all about it, and of course trying to decide where we're going to eat... SOOOOO many choices!

& children are just as excited as they get to go to stay with their grandma while we're away - everybody's happy.......

Blickling

We went for a big walk on the estate at Blickling Hall yesterday and ended up with a visit to the second hand bookshop.

I was so excited to find this gem of a book for the bargain price of £1.80:

Can't wait to start using it for inspiration and advice. It might be 60 years old, but is full of great tips & straightforward instructions & diagrams - I really love Gladys already!

One of the reason's I like old books is that they often have inscriptions like this one. I only wish I knew the name of the person George gave the book to. I'm hoping it was Florence or Vera like my grandmothers, & I'm imagining what she might have made when she received this lovely book!

a creative moment...

I went to a wonderful "jewellery-making workshop" last Saturday at the Sainsbury Centre (gallery at the university (UEA)) and made this necklace!

I'm going to update this post later with more detail, as it was so exciting - am definitely inspired to make more..... Especially since we went to my favourite beach yesterday & found lots of shells to bring home & play with! Can't wait ;-)

dreaming of denmark...

Tivoli Gardens

It's sooooo gloomy here in Norfolk that we're all wishing for the summer to come soon & dreaming about last summer, & especially our trip to Denmark. Both my daughters keep talking about Tivoli gardens & Copenhagen zoo & ask if we can go tomorrow, bless them! Wish it was that easy ;-)

Halloween

Well, I spent most of the day in bed, so had nothing to do with carving the pumpkin at all...
The children were painting at the kitchen table while their daddy did all the hard work! He even went out to shop to get the ingredients for the soup we planned to make too.
Unfortunately the soup still hasn't been made as swine flu has just knocked me for 6 & I'm still not eating more than a morsel at a time. We've still got the pumpkin seeds though, so maybe tomorrow!??!

Pumpkin!

So here it is, my first blog post!

And it's a cry for help. We've got a pumpkin to carve for halloween, but have no idea what to do with all the insides...... Any ideas?!

I promise to post pictures of the suggestion we choose when we've made it;

over to you!
